I'd be remiss if I didn't share with the reader my impression of The Dip right at the beginning of the review. One word can sum up the tone and maybe even the direction Seth Godin takes us in, that word is Peppy. When I finished reading The Dip all I wanted was for our side to win. Now I have to admit I'm not sure who or what our side is but Seth suceeds in getting me to root for them.Godin is a master of focus in his books. He can take a line like " most people quit, they just don't quit sucessfully" and make your journey through the world of start, then into the valley of The Dip and on up to the mountian top and mastery seem inevitable.Godin is part cheerleader, part carnival barker and part visionary. I recommend this book highly especially to those who find themselves stumped and in The Dip of keeping their dreams burning.

As a kid one of my favorite days was Sunday because we had Baked Potatoes for dinner that day. My sister never ate the potato skins so I got to eat them. I'd drop a couple of butter pats into each half and sprinkle on the black pepper liberally. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm was that a quick ride to heaven or what.

Mustard has always held a place of fascination in my eating life. It comes in so many styles, colors and textures that I always have seven or eight different jars of Mustard in the fridge. Sometimes I'll find myself buying a jar of Mustard even if the name and ingredients seem like a bad combination. Who knows what food it will enhance until you get the jar home. I still don't know what Raspberry Mustard will taste good on but I own a jar.

Zen Mind, Beginners Mind fell in to my lap one rainy afternoon. It was the late fall of 2005 and nothing has been the same and nothing has been different since I read and reread it. Make no mistake this is not some quick self help book, though it sure can be helpful. It really is nothing more then a little old Zen Master giving a bunch of lectures that don't solve anything but sure do point to a road that you just might find interesting. It is quite difficult to write about a book that paints a picture that moves away from thinking about things in black and white, yes and no, or good and bad. I just need to remind myself that I'm talking with you about the book and not trying to explain Zen.Taking in mind the last sentence makes it all clear. Zen Mind, Begineers Mind is a simple series of lectures that may help the reader to see reality a bit clearer (it did that for me). Zen Mind, Beginners Mind is a simple series of lectures built around the idea accept nothing till you verify it for yourself.

I love Kris Kristofferson's music. There is just something about that wonderfully gravelly voice that gets to me. And, his songwriting skills are pretty amazing too. Check out the videos I have selected to hear him in action: alone and with the country supergroup The Highwaymen.
