I was like many people. I feared death. It was always there, looming just a breath away. I had a beloved daughter who became deathly ill and I have a son who has had suicidal tendencies since the age of eight, so thoughts and fears of death haunted me almost every day. Although an avid reader, I, however, shyed away from books that spoke of dying. It was almost as if I didn't tread there, it would all go away.

Each and every one of us human beings has a story, a past, a present, and a future that is all wrapped up in our belief systems and how those belief systems affect our daily lives. What we believe comes from our educational background, the upbringing and training we had from our families, our ethnic and cultural influences, and research we have each independently done plus our life experiences. How we identify who we are is aligned with what we know or feel or understand to be truths according to our experiences and education thus far in life. What we believe about who we are in large part determines how we view our purpose in life. Our purpose in life provides our motivation and our blueprint for the decisions we make and way we live our lives.

women everywhere can make a political statement by throwing another garment, their panties, onto the world stage in a new but growing movement called Panties for Peace. A grassroots network of women's organizations in Thailand, Canada, and the United States has united under the name Panties for Peace and come up with a simple, outrageous, but powerful way of protesting the ongoing abuses of the generals who are ruling and ruining Myanmar.
